Practice Fees

Reach Psychology is a private practice that operates on a fee for service basis.
Accounts are strictly payable on the day of your consultation.

Your Initial Consultation

The purpose of your first session is to gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation and determine the appropriate next steps to support your needs. The outcomes may vary based on the specific issues presented, and could include:

  • Recommendations for additional counselling sessions.

  • Further assessments, if needed, which will be discussed with you.

  • Referrals to relevant specialists, if applicable.

The initial consultation is fora standard 50-minutes and the fee is $230.

Your Return Consultation

Return consultations are for a standard 50-minute session and the fee is $230.

Medicare Rebates

With a referral and Mental Health Treatment Care Plan (MHTP) or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP), you can claim a rebate of $96.65. Medicare provides rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year for MHTP and 40 sessions for EDTP.

Common reasons for referrals under the Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, ASD, grief and loss, and psychological concerns associated with recovery from long-term physical illnesses.

Common reasons for referrals under an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP) include people with a clinical diagnosis of anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), binge eating disorder (BED), or other specified feeding and eating disorders (OSFED).

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim part of your session fee through your extras. Contact your insurer to confirm if psychology is covered and how much can be claimed. Please note that you can only use either Medicare or private health insurance for each appointment, not both.

Individuals or families who are registered for the Medicare Safety Net may be able to claim 80% of any gap (gap between the fee and the Medicare rebate) once they have reached the threshold. Please check with Medicare for details.

Cancellation Policy:

Your appointment is set aside just for you. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please let us know at least 48 business hours in advance to help us accommodate other clients who may need the appointment time. If you cancel with less than 48 hours of notice or miss your appointment, the session fee will apply.

Please be aware that Medicare rebates and private health insurance cannot be used for cancellation or non-attendance fees. Thank you for your understanding.
